    Computer networking is a system that connects to computers for information to be shared and stored. By means of computer network, hardware components and computers are interconnected by communication channels.
    AquaHeat is very much so about sharing and exchanging information. Data will be exchanged through AquaHeat servers network.
    It will be important to "network" with outsiders to gain support and funding.

Operating System

    An operating system is a set of programs that manage other programs on a computer. it  is the most important system of the computer, because it enables applications to be run. An operating system performs very basic, yet important task, such as, managing input and output.
    AquaHeat uses operating systems to manage programs used on our computers to manage our progress and how fast water is being made available. We will be using a multi-processing operating system, in order to be able to process more than one computer. This will be important because there will be a load of data shared and stored between different computer users.

 

Bits and Bytes

   A bit, or a binary digit is the smallest unit of information that can be processed or stored by a computer. A byte is eight binary digits, or bits as one unit. Bytes only recognize two states, combinations of 0 and 1. 

According to the well-known Moores Law, the number of bytes will multiply exponentially as the years increase, and as a result, technology will only get better.

  Bytes are important in the AquaHeat project because it important that we have reliable technology and storage to process all of the various data and imaging needed.

Input/Output

    Input and Output are important in technology in that it allows for one computer to communicate with another device or a person.

   While input and output are not crucial for AquaHeat to succeed, it is important is ways that it allows staff to effectively communicate with one another in terms of progress and issues that our project might encounter. For instance, it is important for one staff member to be able to communicate an issue with another staff member who may be able to assist in finding a solution. (ex: a headset and microphone would be used for communication purposes)

   Another source of input and output would be NFC(near field communication). NFC would be used to transfer data from one device to another in case of emergency. Also, tracking our bases of water supply is very important, so RFID would be useful in that way.

hardware

     Hardware is an extremely important com aspects of technology, and more specifically it encompasses the key components of a computer. Without hardware, a computer would not perform properly; it simply would not exist.

     While AquaHeat does not neccesarily need hardware to perform, it would ensure that our project is as successful as it can possible. Computers will be useful in that programs such as excel, will be used to ensure that AquaHeat is performing in the best possible way. 

     Computers used by AquaHeat will consist of the best hardware possible. They will consist of a:

• video/sound card
